New York Heritage Meeting

CDLC Offices, 28 Essex Street, Albany

Tuesday, July 19th from 9:00am until 12:30pm

The tentative agenda is as follows:
9:00-9:45 Welcome, introductions, and showcase of new members
9:45-10:15 Development of New York Heritage web site and creation of collection landing pages
10:15-10:30 Break
10:30-11:00 DPLAFest report – including more on collections &
11:00-11:30 Backups, file storage, intro to digital preservation
11:30-12:30 Developing and creating online exhibits, with a focus on using Omeka software

Afternoon: Hands-on help available. After the formal program, CDLC staff, including Ilka Morse, will be available all afternoon for questions and one-on-one help with CONTENTdm.

Presenter Bios: We are excited to have Jennifer Palmentiero and Susan Stessin-Cohn join us from the SENYLRC (Southeastern New York Library Resources Council) region to discuss the creation of online exhibits.

Jen is the Digital Services Librarian at SENYLRC and administers their Hudson River Valley Heritage program. Susan is the Town of New Paltz Historian and a retired educator. She has created online exhibits for several Hudson River Valley Heritage contributors.

  • This meeting is aimed at current New York Heritage participants, however, others are invited to attend as space allows.There is no cost for this event.
  • Participants are invited to bring laptops or other devices to follow along during the morning session. CDLC has a very limited number of laptops with CONTENTdm that participants can use during the afternoon session. If you intend to stay for the afternoon session and have a laptop loaded with CONTENTdm, you are encouraged to bring it.
  • Participants are welcome to bring a bag lunch from home or stop by one of our local eateries if they intend to stay for the afternoon session.
