Continuing Education and Events: 06/14 - Symposium on Preparing Students for College Research

This guide contains current and upcoming events of interest to librarians, archivist, library staff, and others in Capital District Region.

Symposium on Preparing Students for College Research

CDLC is partnering with the Questar III School Library System to bring a panel of academic librarians from local colleges to Questar III for a presentation and discussion on how to best prepare students for researching at the college level.

The event will take place at 10 Empire State Blvd in Castleton (right off of Exit 10 of I-90)  from 8:30-11:00.

Here is the tentative agenda:

Registration begins at 8:30.

8:30-9:00 Registration

9:00-9:15 Introductions

9:15-10:30 Four presentations from academic librarians (15-20 minutes each)

Marisa Gitto, Maria College

Carrie Buff, Schenectady County Community College

Amy Pass, The Sage Colleges

10:30-10:45 High school librarians will share their perspectives and experiences

10:45-11:30 An open dialogue and discussion

Our hope is that this will be a very interactive program, with questions throughout. Both academic and school librarians from our region are invited (as well as anyone else). We also encourage school librarians to bring teachers they work with who teach college-level courses.
